Lili is finally here! She only cried a little bit, though she whimpered a little. She seems to have a soft spot for figuring things out, her favorite is her bottle. She's potty trained, very small, smart,& quite. Mom is blissfully playing with her. I think she enjoys cheerios. Mom says she has small, chubby hands.
Hi it is Melanie now
Lili is wonderful!!! I can't figure out how to post pictures. I'll work on it. We are all really tired. She came in 4 layers of clothing. She fits into her 18 month undershirts and pjs weight wise but they are way, way too long (not her body but she has really, really short legs). She is really short and pretty chubby. She walks. We were told she is potty trained and she has gone on the toilet but she also went on the bed...??? I bet we end up in a diaper (i don't have any underwear - but can buy some if we need them). She did not cry much just a whimper every now and then. She came with some medicine because she has a few rashes on her. We received her at 4 pm local time. We arrived at the Civil Affairs a few minutes early and she was not there. 2 people from the orphanage brought her. They gave us a jade necklace for her when she is older, some graham crackers, our photo album, camera and the list of questions that we had asked. They gave her to us and we took a few pictures and walked across the street (playing frogger - it was scary - actually scarier going to get her than coming back) and came to our room. Our local guide went through paper work that we will fill out tomorrow morning at 9. The adoption will be finalized in the morning (we of course then have to wait for her visa to be issued). After we were in our room for a few minutes I squat ed down and said come to mamma and she did. Then Mckenzie tried and she did. She tried for about a 1/2 hour to put her bottle together and finally seemed a bit frustrated... I thought she was playing with it but she wanted some milk. I held her (she was holding onto the blanket that Adria and Ashlyn made for her) and so we snuggled, she looked me in the eyes and I sang "I am a Child of God" to her. Her eye contact is good - sometimes she won't look but my other kids are the same way... we will see. Oh, when we received her she was holding onto a bag of candy (fruit snacks or something like that) and she did not put this down for an hour or so. She is sitting on the bed right now all clean in her pj's and playing with a little stuffed box that you put stuffed animals in and out... she loves to figure things out. She also likes looking at books. She is ticklish on her belly. Oh, I tried to take off her shoes when we got to the room (they have little zippers on the side of them) she fussed a bit so I put them back on and she zipped them up. Her hemangiomas are the same as they are in the photos. The one on her cheek is quite raised but they are not bad. The one on her scalp is bigger than I thought but you can't see it through her thick, course, black hair (it is long enough to put in a barrett) Well, I'll try to figure out the pictures. Scott, let me know when you are awake by instant messaging me... I'll leave the computer on. We are having room service tonight and it just arrived - hopefully, we will all get to bed early - we are sooo tired. Oh, our flight in to Nanchang was the bumpiest flight ever... even worse than Rochester - awful- Mckenzie thought she was going to throw up from the motion (I finally convinced her it was like a roller coaster and that helped) and the smells are really hard on her (they served a lunch in the middle of the turbulence). And, China's largest ferriswheel is located in Nanchang. It is gigantic - as tall as the huge skyscraper beside it - I think our guide thought we may want to go on it - she says it is not scary but I think I will have to pass - I don't like ferriswheels. Talk soon.
